CSA pick-up #2: 1 Ugly Vegetable and 1 Precious Fruit

I'll give you 50 cents if you can identify this vegetable.

I've never seen such a thing.   It looks like a purple octopus mated with a rutabaga.
So, what is it?  It's kohlrabi!  I plan to eat it like this.

The lighting in my living room was really pretty so I had a mini photoshoot with my fruit and veggies from this week's share.  Totally normal.

Tomato
Garlic Scapes
Beets
Cabbage

Strawberries

annnnnd I saved the best one for last.  It's so precious, I can't take it.

To recap, here's what I got this week:

A bunch of beets
1 head of Napa Cabbage
2 Tomatoes
6 garlic scapes
1 kolhrabi
1 quart strawberries

We did pretty good job utilizing all of last week's share.  We used all the broccoli (roasted it!),  made tons of salads with the lettuce, spinach, and radishes, made a compote with the rhubarb, and snacked away on all the strawberries. Also, I joined my co-ops facebook group so I can see what other people are making, and share what I've made.  It's been pretty helpful so far.  Working with a lot of these vegetables is pretty new to me, so I'm hoping the Facebook group will continue to be a good resource.
